Rabbit Films sets sights on international expansion – company has hired Jonathan Tuovinen to spearhead their international distribution expansion plans.
In the newly created role as Head of International, Tuovinen will manage global sales of the Rabbit Films formats catalogue together with US-based Director of International Sales Jukka Hildén. He will be actively taking the company’s original shows such as King, Ultimate Expedition, Posse and Haggle Battle to the international marketplace.
Tuovinen was previously Director for Formats and Production and NBCUniversal International Studios, where he worked with entertainment formats such as Top Chef, the Real Housewives and Hollywood Game Night, as well as a slate of scripted formats including House, Law & Order and Monk. He most recently managed the territories of Middle East, Turkey, Iberia and Latin America.

The move will see Tuovinen relocate from London to his native Finland after 10 years in various positions in the international media industry. Prior to NBCU, Tuovinen worked at Nordisk Film TV World and was one of the founding members of Banijay International when the Copenhagen-based company was acquired by the French media conglomerate in 2010.
He left Banijay as Head of Sales to join NBCU in 2012. Tuovinen holds an CEMS Master in International Management degree from Copenhagen Business School and London School of Economics, and a B.Sc. in International Business from Helsinki School of Economics.
